A world where every child can access surgery...

Kids Operating Room exist to bring safe surgery to every child.

1.75 billion children globally cannot get the operations they need because the facilities, resources and knowledge base simply do not exist. Children who break a leg shouldn’t live the rest of their lives in disability. Babies who need a simple 30-minute procedure shouldn’t be left to die.

In 2018, Kids Operating Room was officially founded by Garreth and Nicola Wood, with a vision for a world where every child is treated equally. Since then, our mission has been to support local doctors through the provision of training and infrastructure to ensure they can use their incredible talents to care for their nation’s children.

We install and equip children's Operating Rooms in the world's poorest countries

Access to safe, timely surgery simply doesn't exist for an overwhelming amount of children in the world. By installing state of the art children's surgical facilities, we are helping address this need, by bringing life-saving care closer to home for some of the world's most vulnerable children.

Before After

We work with local surgical teams

We strongly believe that local surgical teams are best placed to care for the children of their own countries, communities and homes. In low- and middle-income countries across the world, there are incredibly talented and dedicated surgical care providers who simply do not have the resources they need to provide the best care. By equipping these staff, we are putting life-saving tools in life-saving hands.

You can help us save thousands more children

Our work has created capacity for more than 100,000 life-changing operations. But there's still millions of children out there who can't access the care they need.

We're trying to change one of the largest, and most deadly issues in the world. We can't do it alone. We rely on the backing of our supporters. By subscribing to our newsletter, you are joining a campaign for change for children across the globe.

We're changing children's lives one operation at a time.

“I cannot explain how the fire spread so fast. She couldn’t even call for help at first.”

When Zainabu Haroub Said arrived at the local hospital in her city of Arusha, Tanzania, she had suffered such severe burns that she would spend much of the next in hospital.
