A brand new operating room in Zambia!

News

Our newest theatre...

We're so pleased to announce the official opening of a brand new children's operating room - in Chipata, Zambia.

The theatre, our eighth installation in the country, brings the absolute best tools for children's surgery to Chipata Central Hospital - a facility that serves a catchment population of 2.17million people, approximately 450,000 of which are under the age of 5.

The installation marks the first time the hospital, or city, have had the proper resources for children's surgery. Previously, the surgical resources they did have were scarce and designed for adults - creating risk for children undergoing surgery.

Before After

A team from Kids Operating Room travelled to Zambia to attend the opening ceremony, a completely joyous event which underpins the impact of the new facility on the community in Chipata.

Dr Mbinga L Mbinga, the Senior Medical Superintendent at the hospital told us, "The refurbished KidsOR is a game changer for paediatric surgery at our hospital. The operating room has added beauty to the hospital, and increased confidence among our patients."

We're changing the face of global surgery - and we'd love you to be part of the mission. Sign up below and join the journey.
