Butterfly – “I love the butterfly because when I see a butterfly it makes me feel happy. They are beautiful and fragile but spark joy.”

Karen deals with press, marketing and anything to do with raising the profile of Kids Operating Room’s work.

She is an award-winning journalist who worked at ITV news for 11 years, winning Royal Television Society awards for programmes on the death of Princess Diana and the Soho Nail Bomber.

Karen has also looked after communications for Starbucks, Leonard Cheshire, and the Royal Blind.

“The work that Kids Operating Room do to save the lives of children who desperately need surgery is truly amazing. I want the whole world to know about it.”

When she’s not at work Karen can be found cheering on her boys on the football pitch, cycling with her young daughter or out walking her Irish Terrier.
