The Impact of Sofa to Summit
This year our Sofa to Summit challenge returned after a successful pilot during 2020. Intrepid trekkers were asked to take on Africa’s most iconic peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, to raise funds for the billions of children without access to safe surgery around the world.

This year’s challenge was a huge success resulting in trekkers and hikers joining the challenge from 10 different countries, travelling over 4,000 kilometres, summiting Mount Kilimanjaro 756 times and fundraising for 39 different operations.
“As the money and well wishes started to pile in, the enormity of my challenge soon hit home. Standing atop of Arthur’s Seat for the 28th time in as many days however I was overcome with an enormous sense of pride, not for the challenge I had completed but for the sum of money I had raised knowing how much of a difference this would make to so many kids and to such a worthwhile cause. I’m already eyeing up next year’s challenge!”
Gary, Sofa to Summit Participant
To those that partook in the challenge, a huge congratulations and a massive thank you for all your hard work. Your selfless dedication and commitment have had a significant impact on the lives of many young children in need of life saving surgery.
