Madonna & Kids Operating Room: Expanding Life-Saving Surgery in Malawi
Last week, our co-founder Garreth Wood joined Madonna and Raising Malawi in New York for a special event dedicated to transforming surgical care for children in Malawi.
The fundraiser, hosted by Madonna, brought together leading organisations transforming care in Malawi with supporters from across the US and beyond to drive the next phase of work, delivering on a national surgical plan that ensures more children have access to safe, life-changing surgery across the country.

“We're so proud to be working with Madonna and the Raising Malawi team to help shape the future of children’s surgery in Malawi.” – Garreth Wood
Madonna and Kids Operating Room’s commitment to improving healthcare for children in Malawi has already driven remarkable progress, and this next phase will build on that success. Together, we are working to expand surgical capacity, ensuring more hospitals have the resources to provide life-saving care. Garreth’s presence at the event reaffirmed our shared goal: a future where every child in Malawi has access to safe, timely surgery.
As we move forward with this next phase, we remain committed to expanding surgical care across Malawi and beyond, because every child, no matter where they are born, deserves access to the healthcare they need.
