Lili Buffett joins Kids OR Board of Trustees
We're thrilled to welcome Lili Buffett to the Kids OR team!
Lili is a prominent US philanthropist and she joins our board of trustees to help us achieve our mission of providing equal access to safe surgery for children across the world.
She is a graduate of Columbia University, with a bachelor's degree in Economics and Philosophy. While at Columbia, Lili developed a deep passion for understanding and resolving issues related to poverty alleviation and gender inequality. She has travelled with and volunteered for non-profit organisations working to address these and other social and environmental challenges around the world.
Lili said: "I’m delighted to join the board of Kids Operating Room, an organisation which is carrying out vital work in low- and middle-income countries - not only to create dedicated paediatric operating rooms where there are none, but also to work with local surgical teams to enable them to care for their own nation’s children."
Our Chairman Garreth Wood, said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome Lili to the Kids Operating Room board. She brings with her a great passion for creating positive change and a wealth of experience in driving non-profit organisations towards their objectives. Ten out of every 11 children in the world still does not have access to safe surgery and we won’t rest until every child can access care when they need it.
"With Lili on our team, we’re more confident than ever that we can one day reach our goal."
Lili serves on a number of community and non-profit boards, including the Goalkeepers Advisory Board for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Captain Planet Foundation, the NorthStar Foundation, and a program committee for the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. She previously served on an advisory board for the Central Park Conservancy’s Institute for Urban Parks.
Welcome to the team, Lili!
