Summit for Surgery: Join KidsOR’s Kilimanjaro Challenge 2025
This October, Kids Operating Room is taking on Kilimanjaro - a challenge that will not only push participants to the summit of Africa’s highest peak but also fund a life-changing surgical facility for children in Tanzania.Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) serves 10 million people but has no dedicated pediatric operating room. Right now, families face the impossible choice of traveling hundreds of kilometers for surgery or going without the care their child needs. This project will change that.
Over seven days, our team will ascend 5,895m via the Lemosho Route, taking on rainforest, glaciers, and altitude - all in support of expanding safe, accessible surgery for children in Tanzania. Before the climb, participants will visit KCMC hospital to meet surgical teams, see the facilities, and understand the critical need for investment in pediatric surgery.
This challenge is more than a physical feat - it is a commitment to action in tackling the global surgical gap.

A Challenge With Impact
Raising funds for the first-ever pediatric operating room at KCMC.
Expanding access to safe, timely surgery for children across Tanzania.
Reducing the need for long, costly hospital transfers.
Investing in local surgical teams with the tools and infrastructure they need.
This initiative reflects KidsOR’s commitment to delivering sustainable solutions for pediatric healthcare worldwide.
For those looking for a bucket-list challenge with real impact, a limited number of places are available to join the climb.
