Kids Operating Room win big at 2025 Prix Gallien Awards
A Global Award for Powering Safer Surgery
Kids Operating Room has been named winner of the Best Health Equity Initiative at the 2025 Prix Galien Awards in London. This award recognises our solar-powered surgery system, now delivering safe, reliable power to children's operating rooms around the world.
In a room filled with outstanding organisations and pioneering ideas, our innovation stood out for one reason: it is already saving lives.
A Critical Problem
In many of the hospitals where we work, electricity is not guaranteed. Surgical teams face power surges that damage equipment and blackouts that force them to operate in the dark.
“There were times when we had to use our phones to find the source of bleeding,” one surgical team told us.
We knew these teams had the skill to save lives. What they needed was power they could count on.

A Clean, Constant Solution
Our solar systems are designed to provide stable, round-the-clock power in even the most challenging conditions. They are already:
- Reducing delays to emergency surgery
- Preventing critical equipment failure
- Allowing surgical teams to work with confidence
Most importantly, they are helping children reach the other side of surgery safely.
A Brighter Future
Winning a Prix Galien Award is an honour. But what matters most is the impact: stronger health systems, safer surgeries, and a more equitable future for children everywhere.
